Indian Currency Rupee got New Avatar

Indian Currency Rupee gets a new symbol and joined the elite group of  U.S. Dollar, U.K. Pounds-Sterling, Japan's Yen and Eurpoean Union Currency Euro to have a symbol for currency.  The Government of India today released a symbol for its currency Rupee and become the fifth currency in the world to get symbol .  In an official press conference Indian Central Information and Broadcasting Minister Ms. Ambika Soni released the Indian official Rupee symbol design and said the move by the Government of India to give identity to the Indian Currency and it also helpful to distinguish Indian Rupee from other Rupee currency users such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal. 

The current design is designed by Udaya Kumar , an IIT Post Graduate.  The Rupee symbol is a mix of Devanagari "Ra" and Roman Letter "R" which is approved by the five member committee from more than 2 lakh entries by the people of India.  Udhay Kumar gifted 2.5 lakhs prize money from the Government of India.
